The story behind

When Corona started and the gyms had to close, I cancelled my contract. For power training, I bought a couple of dumbbells and a weight bench. But cardio training was a problem. Anything outdoor is not my thing. So first I tried rope skipping. But the rooms in my flat are too small and too narrow for that. So I started running up and down the stairs in my house. But the stairs have 15 steps and that means I always take one step more with one leg than the other. So when walking up and down the stairs, I have to turn left once and then right again the next time. Since I kept getting confused while counting and thinking along, I wrote this app for myself and gradually adapted it for general use.


Frequently asked questions

Where do I press when passing through an intermediate goal?

  • Press the lap counter button (the large green square with the lap number) or the volume-up button of your smartphone.

The arrow to the left (or right) flashes. What should I do?

  • The arrow starts flashing 3 seconds before the average lap time is reached.
    • When you are close to reaching the goal or an intermediate goal, you know that the average lap time will soon be reached.
    • If you have just passed the goal or intermediate goal, you have not (or not correctly) pressed the lap counter button. Press it now.

I want to finish my training. What should I do?

  • Press the lap counter button to finish the last lap.
  • Press STOP
  • Optional: use the pause time counter to measure your heartbeat on your wrist
  • Optional: Select "Send lap times" in the three-item menu to send the current times by e-mail to your own e-mail address.

I have reached an intermediate goal, but none of the arrows is flashing

  • Great, this lap was far better than the lap average. Just press the lap counter button to finish the lap.
  • Note: The lap counter button must be green

I don't hear the confirmation sound when I pass through a waypoint?

  • You did not click properly.
  • The lap counter button was still disabled, its color was red or yellow. It can be clicked only when it is green.
  • You turned off the confirmation sound in the preferences.
  • The media sound is low or off.
    • Press volume down. The volume bar and a gear wheel for settings appear (the exact appearance depends on your system).
    • Press SETTINGS and increase the media volume.

I want to share my trainig data, but I receive an error message

  • The only way to share your training data is by using email. Therefore an email-app must be installed on your device
  • All other apps do not work, e.g. WhatsApp, Bluetooth, Google Drive, OneDrive, ...

Which SETTINGS should I change?

  • Be sure to enter your email address. Then it will be even easier for you to send the training data to yourself by e-mail. Don't worry. Your email address will only be transferred to your email programme (e.g. GMAIL). Nowhere else.
  • If one lap lasts long it is probably useful to turn the screen off. But the screen must be on to use the lap counter button or volume-up.
  • You can adapt the times to your training. Hint: All times in milliseconds (seconds * 1000)!


These functions are planned for the near future

  • More than two directions
  • E-mail completely in one language (initially German and English)
  • EMail also shows the lap type/direction for the lap.

These functions will come eventually

  • Save training data on the smartphone. Search and view past data.
  • Store training data on the internet and display it on multiple smartphones of the user.
